A trip to Las Vegas can be exciting for plenty of reasons, but there is a lineup of thrill rides and experiences that up the ante — from picturesque views of the famous Las Vegas Strip to experiencing the feeling of flight. We’ve rounded up seven rides and experiences you can’t miss and ranked them from mellow to high-octane.
Can’t make it to France? No problem. This replica at Paris Las Vegas may be small (half the size of the real thing, to be exact), but you’ll get a taste of the iconic landmark as you take in the bustling sights and sounds of Las Vegas from 46 stories in the air. You can even stay for dinner by booking a table at the Eiffel Tower Restaurant, which serves classic French cuisine.
Two worlds collide at the Venetian Hotel, and the shimmering Grand Canal is best experienced aboard a gondola ride. You’ll tour the indoor route of the canal, which winds past the plethora of shops before venturing outside to see authentically rendered Italian architecture, paired with the iconic skyline of the Las Vegas Strip. The gondola tours are perfect for couples, but they’re also a fun kid-friendly attraction.
It’s hard to miss the High Roller Ferris Wheel in the heart of the Las Vegas Strip. It’s the largest observation wheel in North America, after all. Marvel at 360-degree views of Las Vegas sites from spacious, enclosed cabins as you soar 550 feet into the air. The wheel takes approximately 30 minutes to complete one rotation, so you’ll have plenty of time to take it all in. The High Roller is suitable for all ages, too, so it’s another great family-friendly thrill option.
Choose your adventure at Flyover in Las Vegas and take a sky-high journey that immerses you over iconic locations like the American West, Chicago, Iceland and the Canadian Rockies. You’ll experience the true feeling of flight as motion seats dip and dive, while a 52.5-foot spherical screen puts you at the center of the action. Along the way, you’ll experience the scents of nature and effects that allow you to feel the incredible places you’re taking in. Flyover is a family-friendly thrill, with some rides offering particularly fun elements. Try Believe Chicago if you’re after those stomach-rising “drops” or Wonders of the American West if you want plenty of excitement — including a simulated barrel roll.
More than one million people have experienced the rush of The Big Apple Coaster at New York-New York Hotel and Casino, and you could be next. The roller coaster has been satisfying thrill-seekers for nearly 30 years, and it was the first in the world to feature a 180-degree “heartline” twist maneuver — a smooth barrel roll around the rider’s center of gravity. The coaster’s cars, designed as a nod to classic New York City taxi cabs, top out at 67 miles per hour as they traverse a track high above the Strip. Get ready for exceptional views, high-speed fun and a 203-foot drop that will get your adrenaline pumping.
This is the only zipline you’ll find on the Las Vegas Strip, so don’t miss your chance to try it. Launch yourself from a 12-story tower and fly from Las Vegas Boulevard to the High Roller, passing over the LINQ Promenade along the way. You’ll travel a total of 1,121 feet and reach speeds up to 35 miles per hour.
These rides, all found at The STRAT’s observation tower, aren’t for the faint of heart. What does the Strip look like from 1,081 feet in the air? Find out on the Big Shot. This ride shoots 16 riders from the structure’s 921-foot-high platform to the top of the tower — 160 feet at 45 miles per hour and then back down again. Or ride X-Scream, a roller coaster unlike any other. You’ll teeter at the edge of the tower before plummeting head-first and then dangling over the edge of the Strip. Hang on tight!
Many of these thrilling attractions, like Flyover, can be booked in advance online, so get your tickets early and enjoy your ride!
